We are getting ready for our maiden voyage. And was wondering what to to with our shoes at night?

The best idea we have so far is to put them in plastic totes, that can be closed and water tight.

We want to know what you do about your shoes.

I put them in a watertight tote and slide the tote under the tear.

Mike, we either put them in plastic totes like you're thinking of or if we have the awning setup we will change and leave shoes in exchange for some flip-flops or sandals(which are left laying by the door)...also do this in the car as well...some enterprising folks will build a shoe holder on the inside wall, made out of wood or cloth...

Depends on How bad they smell . We put our on top since we have a flat roof - sometimes we keep a piar of sandles in with us incase of a midnight bathroom run!

I put a Rubbermaid stool under the tear and set the shoes on top of it... if it rains, they still remain dry...

I check for spiders before putting them on...

If it is raining hard, I have space on the floor for them, and have car mats on the floor to contain water..

We sleep head to back, so have about 18" of floor space in the front. but, dogs have to sleep there too.

I bring mucks for rain, hiking boots and walking shoes. Whatever is not being used go into plastic shopping bags and are put (thrown) into a storage container in the back of the van.... helps keep the sand and dirt from getting spread around.

I've actually seen a picture on this forum where someone mounted a wire basket under their tear at the door I would guess to put their shoes. I assume the basket was just slid into some permanent mounted brackets then I guess just put in the tear to travel.

Shoes stay in the car over night. Flip flops store easily in the tear and are great for a rainy morning or trip for night relief.

I'm thinking of getting a cargo net (4'), install 4 hooks under the tear where you can slip off your shoes and then put into the net. Accessible from both sides.

Those were hanging closet baskets that are just mounted in 4 screw eyes. They stay there permanent. Done over 12k miles down there with no problems. Nice thing is nothing collects in them.

Just throw them at someone, it worked in Iraq
