'nuther shoe ?

Postby PanelDeland » Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:17 am

I was just wondering what shoes everyone uses for camp shoes.I know many take hiking or tennis shoes but for just around camp what do you wear?
Myself I like to wear a pair of Moccasins(I usually rake a campsite) but if I'm camping with others or just overnighting I wear a pair of deck shoes about $7.00 from Wally World.

I've got some Crocs sandals (full price), and a pair each of faux-Crocs slides and Crocs clogs I got for about $8 apiece. I've also got a pair of duck shoes with a lining...and depending on the temps, I take one pair of either slides or clogs. The duck shoes live in the truck, so I've always got them (lacrosse parent and dog show competitor...four seasons of weather gear live in the truck at all times!) The closed toe styles are really handy if it gets chilly and are heavy-duty enough to be good foot protection, and something like a croc or duck shoe that can handle wet weather (and double as shower shoes) is vital (especially this summer.) The sneakers stay in the camper, unless it's warm and dry. ;-)

I personally wear what ever I normally wear during the day, but I like to leave the regular shoes in the car at night and switch over to the cheap rubber thongs (shoes, not......) with smooth bottoms. They are compact and don't bring much dirt into the TD. If I get up in the morning and it's raining, no problem. Usually in the morning I head for the showers and just continue to wear them in the shower (some showers I really don't want to stand bare foot in). Then, as I said, during the day what I normally wear.

Acorn 'Dakota' moccasins - all leather, but with rubber soles. Cushy!

Still working on the tear, but in the summertime I wear Teva's. Been known to wear them with wool socks for warmth, too, which works even when wet. But then, I'm a fashion plate ;)

Gary

Smooth bottoms are a requisite for the other, too...

I take three pairs of shoes:

- Leather country walking tennis-style shoes
- Washable enclosed shoes in a tennis or other such style
- Plastic sandals that I can wear in the shower, slip on quick/hose off easily. (My favorites are OKABASHI)
