Travel games for camping

I've been spending some time cleaning out the upstairs closets and the storage room, and found a stuff sack full of travel games I used to keep handy when my nephews were little kids. A deck of regular cards, a deck of UNO, a travel Yahtzee game, a travel Scrabble board, a small Mancala board, a box of crayons--stuff I used to have on hand when the kids got bored, or we were inside/camping on rainy days. The kids were 3 and 6 when I started camping with them, and younger than that when I started taking care of them, so most of my games built up word and counting skills, but didn't necessarily need a lot of reading ability. They weren't ready for Scrabble or Boggle or Trivial Pursuit or even Monopoly until they were a lot older, and all but the Scrabble game were home games, not portable.

I decided to dust off the games in the sack, clean up the stuff sack and include it in the car for those dog show trips when we can all use some portable entertainment and we're not in the mood to play poker or re-hash that day's performances and judging. :)

A couple years ago, I gave most of my board games to my sister and brother's families for family game nights--all I kept was my special edition of Scrabble, an old Monopoly game that I had as a kid, and these travel games. I play a hand of solitaire now and then, and a couple of computer games, but don't play many board games anymore unless I'm with friends or family on 'game night.'

Then last night I was checking out a new discount/overstock place called Ollies, and found discounted for $3 a travel Trivial Pursuit game...just perfect for evening amusement at the next dog show, with a collection of pop culture cards my dog show friends will appreciate. Trivial Pursuit used to be one of my favorite games--and now that I know there's a travel edition, I spent a few minutes on ebay checking out travel games. There are even travel/speed versions of Monopoly and Scrabble out now.

Does anyone else carry any card/board games while camping/traveling?

(edited out my typos...!)

I have a deck of waterproof playing cards & UNO Splash (waterproof UNO). We have a couple other kids card games if the whole family goes.

We don't really play games much. I fish and paint, Kate sketches and paints. If we're stuck inside we usually read books, though Kate may continue sketching.

Of all the stuff you have, we might find a use for the crayons...

I bring along the iPod touch but rarely use it for games. Mostly just watch movies on it.

We've been playing a new dice game, new to us anyway; Farkle
quick, nearly brainless and stores in a plastic cup.
