I run into a lot of Coleman SB coolers at rummages here for under $10. I actually picked up this 1953 beauty for $5 at a flea market in May.

Ill be glad to look for a SB for anyone that wants one. Let me know.

Thanks George, the lady that sold it was selling vintage quilts and brought the cooler to stack her quilts on for display! She had no idea it was what it was! She said it would work great on my fishing boat. I agreed, now i need a boat!:)

That's the nicest vintage Coleman I've ever seen, in fact...
So nice, I really thought it was a retro-reproduction at first.
What a find and what a price!!! :applause:

Fantastic find!!! I'm finding a lot of stuff that is just hammered. 2 weeks ago, Steve E and I went past a garage sale, I had heard that he had a kerosene gravity feed stove for sale, price was 50$ (a neighbor asked). When I showed up, it wasn't an enameled or badged stove had a bent top and when I asked, it was suddenly 100$ and some talk about how he could get 200$ for it in an antique store. I thought at 50$ I'd negotiate, at 100$ it was a waste of time. I wish him luck. Doug

I've noticed, that at garage sales, some folks haven't a clue and just want to get rid of their stuff, while other folks think that everything that they have is a priceless antique! I just walk away from those sales, I'm not above paying a fair price, but I refuse to pay for someone elses sentiment. :x

Doug, maybe your reputation is well known, you and when they seen it was you, the price went up. Maybe you should come in disquise! 8)
I agree with Firelion too, some people think they have priceless antiques and its really just junk, but they heard about a similar thing that sold on ebay and they think they have the same thing. Some people dont have a clue. Ive seen people ask $50 for a stove that isnt worth $5, and then theres the good things like TLC's 502 or my 425 for $10. You never know until you get there. I guess thats what keeps me going to them is the thrill of the hunt. When i score something nice, it makes my day! :)

In 85 I bought 2 coleman steel 54 qt coolers, about $25 each, can you believe it, one red (for the food) and one green (for the beer). As my interest in camping slowed down (along with my marriage) I finally got rid of them (crying) now I want to go camping again and I'm bumming over all the camping stuff I through out. But thats ok, as Arnold once said .... I'll be back!!!!

And the ones you buy used on E.Bay are holding their prices. You can pay anywhere from 50-100 used. But ya know they are worth the price they last forever.
