Hi everyone,

I will be picking up my Little Guy mid-month and would like to know what you guys use for your hot showers? WalMart has a closeout Zodi shower for $79, normally $99.

Do these work well?

Is there a better solution?

Inquiring minds want to know....

Do a search, there are several threads on showers and shower shelters. I my self have an outback shelter and use a modified steel weed sprayer pump that I heat on the stove.

Are you doing wilderness camping, or "dry camping?"

Most State Parks have good shower facilities.

If I am roughing it in the boonies for a couple of days, I just heat up a bowl of water, wash up with a wash-rag, and put on fresh clothes.

The Mark 1 Navy Shower System (suitable for Marine use though).

Fill with 16 quarts of H20. Heat to desired temperature. Install lid. Pressurize with compressed air. Get wet. Lather up. Rinse off. Done!

Also it is big enough to double as a wash basin for dishes and if the water gets cold you just put it on a burner to heat it right back up.

The pressure cooker is designed to run at 15psi. I took out the rubber safety plug and installed an industrial pressure relief valve set to 15 psi, a schrader valve to pressurize it, a pressure gauge, and a dip tube so you pull the water from the bottom of the cooker. As I recall it costs about $25 bucks in parts to do it right. I weld up the lid a bit where I drill and tap the extra holes.

I got my pressure cooker at a garage sale for $5. They are also available on EBay.

If you get the lid to me , I can modify it for you.

I was thinking of using a modified coffee urn for my shower

We'll be doing a mix of dry camping and places with amenities. Probably more dry than anything else. We like to get away from the crowds. I'm going to get a potty shelter for the potty/shower/changing room.

the coffee urn water heater could also be use for a fold out bathtub all concealed in a closet I think it would add a Mad scientist Steampunk esque factor to my build plus the added benefit of indoor bathing I still would like an external shower and that can be configured with a simple Y-valve the shower could also be used for cleaning the trailer

Thanks Gus...so at 15psi...do you get a good spray? Just wondering about the lift on the hose. Does it need a re-pump to run out all the water? Doug

I have had a Zodi for a few years. It works great!

When we were tent camping we used a sun shower (solar). The MM will have a shower and the gas electric water heater.
One concern for the Zodi is potential scalding.

I used a Coleman hot water unit. It broke. I bought a Zodi Extreme. Works great.

I've been searching for it, and I can't find it, but someone made a shower similar to eamarquardt's pressure cooker shower using a refillable fire extinguisher.

The gist of the article was that you fill the extinguisher with water and put it on the campfire without the lid on it. When the water got to the desired temp, he took it off the fire and put the lid on. He then pumped the extinguisher up with a tire pump (although he mentioned that using a 12V tire inflator made things easier) and off to the shower he went. I don't remember exactly how much pressure he put in the extinguisher, but if he used a tire pump, it couldn't have been much.

In my search, I did find this video. This guy did a nice job of modding the extinguisher to make for a good looking shower.

The only difference I can see is that this modded extinguisher wouldn't go on the fire. You'd have to heat the water separately, then pump it up in place.

Having said all this, I'm keeping my eye open for a cheap refillable fire extinguisher OR a cheap pressure cooker. I think both are great options.
