Take 3/4" copper tubing cut to about 6" long. Drill random holes all over it. I use 1/4" holes and it works well. Slide a piece of garden hose inside and throw it in the fire. You'll get cool blues and greens. When it's done, use a stick to pull out the pipe and stick another peice of hose in. You'll get about 10 uses before the pipe gets too soft and goes flat.

when i was a kid we lived on a farm in the ozarks.

my dad poured a concrete slab 8'x10' around the top of the well we had drilled, and afterward burned the concrete sacks in the barrel on top of the trash. the fire was grass-green.

I had an old camp counselor who was a chemistry major and every year he'd bring out a big tool box filled with jars of sawdust that he let soak in various types of chemicals. He could turn the fire yellow, orange, blue, green, white. Of course we're all brain damaged now, but it was a lot of fun.

Mike should know how to color fire. People color the flame on their homebrew rocket engines. He should have his level 2 cert by now.

Copper tubing in a fire.. We used to burn copper wire to get the insulation off so we could sell as #1 copper.higher price paid. Yes the smoke and fire was colorful but,the smoke would give you one heck of a head ache!! And now if the e.p.a. catches us, so rumor has it, well it supposed to be one heck of a fine..

I too like the DuraFlame logs.

They are easy to light and cam be put on top of the grill at a park to give off heat and color and they burn a long time without a mess. For a quiet eve put as many logs at once as you want fire 1,2, or 3 and have a peaceful time.
