Homemade Portable Toilet

I found this link and thought it had merit.... This is more than just a 5 gal dump bucket.
I might be a good alternative for those who want a pot in the TD or who will use a cabana/pot combo to avoid the common bathhouse toilet scene.

As I read the article this was a toilet designed by an architect for use in third world, urban poor, and disaster situations.

I looked at both of those links , thanks, looks like it would be good if you are in a primitive type camping area.
I guess you could open a baby's diaper and put in the bottom too, but then you'd have to take the 'bag' part out to throw it away.
What would you use for a seat? Or ladies would just have to 'balance'...

I've like the way it describes the 'gas' being captured.

We have used the Luggable Loo brand seat on a 5 gal. bucket with a garbage bag liner containing kitty litter. Its stable on level ground and reasonably easy on cleanup. Cablea's has them for $10.

I bought a toilet seat from Home Depot for $4.99. A 5 galllon bucket for free that held my chlorine tablets for the pool. I took it when it was empty and then designed a wooden mounting frame that I bolted the seat to and this fit down over the bucket perfectly. One small trash bag as you say and some kitty litter and there you have it .........!

A call it the "Crap Master 2000". :D

My wife and I use the luggable loo also with kitchen trash bags in our tent. I don't have a trailer, yet, but am wondering where to put the potty at night when we need it. Going outside in the cold air is a pain. Right now our tent is big enough for us to get up and go to it but in a small trailer it might not be possible.
We don't like to cook when we are going somewhere, prefering to eat at restaurants. Has anyone modified their cooking area for a toilet area?

someone put a front porch over the tongue for a toilet room.
seemed like a good idea, but can't find the pic at the moment.

Hello All,

While on the Green River in Moab, Ut.
The boat Capt. had us all use a Rockett Box!
Sounds fun Huh?

Pack in. Pack out!

A Rockett Box is, a Green 50 cal. Ammo can!

I am glad I don't work for the Capt. Rockett Box on the river.
Because, I know what my job would be when we came back to the dock..
:(

Ah, those good ole river rafting days!

On our first river rafting trip (down the Colorado through the Grand Canyon), our "buddy" was named Oscar. Oscar got the best campsite; typically the tent was placed on a bluff overlooking the river for quiet contemplation while doing ones business.

At first all of us decided no bathroom trips whatsoever! Sorta hard to do for 11 days. After a while Oscar got to be our friend. Which was good. Oscar got packed up and hauled on our raft.

If you buy the Bumper Dumper with the optional roller blades, you don't even have to pull off the freeway to let mama use it.

How appropriate: a three-legged stool.
