Where does one find 5'x5' Baltic Birch plywood? Box stores look at me like I have a third eye in my forehead when I ask for it. Local hardware lumber suppliers almost laugh at me. I've searched as far as a 30 mile radius so far.

Here's one possibility, http://www.dixieply.com/orlando.shtml#products
You might also try a google search for Baltic Plywwod, I found a lengthy list of possibilities.

Some lumber yards call it Russian or Finnish Birch, look for Apple Ply too.

When I was looking for 1/8ply I called 84Lumber and asked if they had any. He said that they didn't, so I asked him if he knew who would. That's how I found my supplier.

I'm not sure exactly where you are but, I just did a quick check and found U-Save Bargain Paneling & Plywood Inc in Orlando, looks like they have a location on OBT and one on Colonial. You can always call and ask if they have it, or see if they know who does.

I'll be driving there tomorrow. To drop off furniture at my sister-in-law's not to buy plywood.

I get that reaction at the big box stores all the time. It doesn't matter what I ask for. Damned if I can figure out why.

In the Sacramento area I have picked up Baltic Birch from Aura Hardwoods and Auburn Hardwoods. I have found the material from Aura to be of lesser quality in that it varries in thickness and some sheets are not square.

That's like when ladies are able to get the tassels to rotate in opposite directions, right?

I couldnt help but notice this post ....

If they say its Russian Birch... Tell them to do some more study of it.

Unless its a Finnish Company that is making the Plywood in Russia or using The Neighboring Forests... Which in the 1st place is formerly Finland...

Russians dont have the expertise with Plywood.....anymore than taking care of their forests....or Nature in General.

Its most likely Finnish Birch.... And there is a difference in it more than I will say outloud..... ;)

Here in Finland we say that the only good with any quality that ever came from there is Cabbage Chit....

If you are in the Atlanta, GA area, you can get 5x5 baltic birch ply in 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4:

http://www.peachstatelumber.com

They also sell domestic and exotic hardwoods by the board foot, hardwood faced plywood, as well as the usual wood products used in construction (OSB, MDF, plywood).

They are a good group of folks and supporters of the local woodworking community.

On the east coast you can get it from boulter plywood in Somerville Ma. I think they ship everywhere or. can tell you where to get it. I know on my next build I will be using 5x10 sheets. More money but less time splicing.

Did you ever find this? Just curious of sources because I'm up in S GA.
