Rust proofing

I am about to put my red trailer together. I'm curious what, if anything, people do to rust proof the extra holes and cuts that are made when modifying the trailer.

I have an HF that I modified. Just sanded/ground the area then primed and painted it with Rustoleum.

I just shot mine with Eastwood Rust Converter and primed and painted it with Rustoleum. Much easier than sanding, but you have to trust your rust converter.
