Pop-Up Trailer mods???????

I bought this trailer last summer for $50 and intended to build a tear but never got to it until now. At my school we have a automotive class that does a lot of welding and they might do this for me for free. Here is what I want to do.

Will these mods be okay, or will they effect the trailer?

Taking off the sides like you have shown won't affect the frame what's so ever. Easy looking frame to mod.

Have a good day.

drex,,, had one almost identical to it,,, I cut the extentions down and made the trailer 54" wide to the outside of the frame and shortened it some from the rear to put the axle towards the rear a bit, but I really didnt need to,, I just kept the weight of the original frame in a narrower frame,,It was not a light weight by any means but it did pull really good,, It should be and easy conversion,,, ya get to play with a grinder and make a lot of sparks,,,

have fun and keep the pics coming,,

Structurally, I agree, those changes will cause absolutely no problem at all.

The balance, with the axle well back, should be no problem unless you will be towing the trailer with a small car and want to keep the hitch weight down. In that case either (a) you might want to work out how you could move the axle forward if the hitch weight turns out to be too high, or (b) you should put any heavy items in the galley and keep them off the tongue.

Derekxcole,

Was your frame stripped of the camper or did you have to remove the pop-up? If you did, how easy or hard was it?

I bought it as it is in the above photo.
I imagine that it would be pretty easy and fun to demolish it and get it off of the trailer.

I think it would be cool to have a six foot wide tear... Think of the options.... ;)
