...that is where I got mine, however when I went my local welding supplier, he told me he could get Dexter torsion axle w/hubs for $160 with no freight charges(that's $50 cheaper on the axle and no freight)...hmmmmmm, will be checking out that for sure(he is getting them thru Redneck Trailer)

Here's a shot of the progress for this weekend. I only worked a couple of hours today...I had 14" of snow to deal with! :snow
I got the interior of the walls skinned with some nice birch ply.
Here's the street-side wall.The curb-side is on the bench now, glue setting!! The slots that you see are "keys" for the bulkheads and floor to fit into. Glue and screws will lock things together. The second pic shows the ledge for the headliner to rest on.
I'll get started on the floor this week. Got to get ready for Mike and Frank... :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

I un clamped the curb-side wall. Also glued up the door interior skin.

Steve F,
Are you planning on mounting the door hinge on the outside like on your other woody? Or, are you thinking of mounting it inside the door opening? Do you think you'll have to widen the kerf to mount the hinge inside?

We are planning on mounting it on the inside! So in addition to a wider kerf, we'll have to be sure to buy a narrow hinge!

Yup, We'll cut just a bit from the hinge side of the door. I used maple for the framing members on each side of the hinge too. This will give the screws a good bite. :thumbsup:

I got the floor built, and got the frame ready for touch-up. Remember?, I moved the axle back 3" and added some clips to bolt the body to...
After the roof...floor..coating dries, I'll start the bulkheads. Mike! I need those final dimensions :ok: Image

After a little "side job" , I cleaned the shop and cut the steel for my frame, I got the floor onto the frame. I also laid out the bulkheads. I have the rear bulkhead, just a ply wall, done. I have the wall with the furnace and a/c mostly cut out. I fried my cordless circ-saw :x
I'll get the rest of the bulkheads done this week. I will glue up the ply for the headliner next.
We should have enough parts ready to get the shell closed up when Mike and Frank come out.

Steve,
I see the dado on the interior wall suface for the galley bulkhead.
I'm pretty sure that you already glassed the exterior wall surfaces.
Question: What type of mechnical anchor, if any, secures this dadoed joint, so that the exterior wall surface isnt compromised?
If no mechanical anchors are used, is it just an epoxied joint alone, or epoxied joint with wood dowels?

Dean,
The joint will be made with glue and screws, driven in the corners of the bulkhead/wall intersection. I'll use finish-head screws, and drive them in from behind the wall, inside the dabinets, before the exterior (headliner) is applied..Confused?? I'll try to make a sketch.... Image

Yeah! I'm thinkin' a jig of some sort to ensure the correct angle and screw depth. :eyebrows:
