Mine will hit the road this weekend. If I get a chance before I go, I'll get mine weighed, otherwise I'll do it when I get back.
They are light! I can easily move the tongue up/down with one arm very easily!

Door handles

Postby rooster » Tue Aug 16, 2005 11:40 am

I will be ordering my door latches and possiably door handles from Grant the first of September.  Is the shaft on the handles, are they !/4" square and if so why can't regular L shaped house interior door handles work? At least they don't jamb...I hope not.

The screen wire floor is key. Propane needs to be well ventilated. Note also that you'll sometimes see motor fuel tanks mounted in trunks. Those are higher pressure tanks than the ones mounted in the open.

Okay, I haven't added anything in this thread in a while... I think it's time to...

I added the drop down doors in the front of the Lil Diner yesterday. They are kept closed with a door latch on the inside... I probably need to go take a picture of that.

But here's how the front of the cabin looks now...

Lil Diner

Postby John B. » Tue May 16, 2006 6:54 pm

Hey Mike,

Your renderings are great!! What software are you using? I saw the thread about people wondering about your copyright markings. With the amount of work that goes into those renderings I don't blame you for being protective.

It looks like you are doing a beautiful teardrop. Where will we be seeing you around this summer?

Take care,
John Blewett

Lil' Diner Option

Postby drart » Fri Jun 02, 2006 9:59 am

Mike,
Just curious. With your beautiful Baja Benroy, what prompted you to pursue the Lil' Diner? They are both beautiful, I just wondered why you decided to do a Diner.

Fred,

It's all about towing vehicles... I downgraded my Jimmy to a Passat, which wouldn't tow the Baja Benroy. So the plan was to build a smaller version of the Baja Benroy to tow with the Passat. The Lil Diner is what we came up with.

Mike,
Thanks for the info. From the thread photos, the Diner appears to be almost as roomy as the Benroy. Is that true, or is it an illusion in the photos. The reduced weight is a real plus if you still have room to stretch out a bit.
I am extremely impressed with the craftsmanship that went into the Diner. Your designs are awesome and Steve's woodwork/boatbuilding techniques make it a truly unique and beautiful vehicle.
I have done little bit of woodworking and had actually thought about doing a "Woody" design similar to the Cabin Car, but the Lil' Diner has me rethinking my choices.
Thanks for the forum - keep up the great work! :applause:

Katman,

Can you work from a 3" grid?

Dear Steve, Mike , Or Anybody
While looking through past post ( I though in Lil' Diner) I saw a small acess door on the side for the propane tank. I'm curious on how you made a door for it.
Thanks Paul
