Help please! Finishing an unfinished interior walls.

Postby SheCamps » Fri Jun 09, 2017 6:12 pm

I'm the proud owner of a new mostly finished teardrop. The wood inside is birch plywood. I like the blonde look to the wood so I'm not going to stain it. Are these the steps I need to take... #1 Lightly sand the walls/ceiling with #220 grit sandpaper. #2 Vacuum/wipe down the wood to remove the dust. #3 Apply 2 to 3 coats of polyurethane. Am I missing anything- should I sand after each coat of polyurethane? In my best Elvis voice, thankyouverymuch!

1.You can sand between coats, between coats 2 & 3 to me is the important time. Wipe surfaces down between coats to collect dust.
2. I would do the floor last, and have a drop cloth. I would start with the ceiling.
3. Ventilation is important.
4. Try to may yourself comfortable, take your time. Think of it was a weekend project that your going to do other chores between coats.

Thank you for the advice- especially about being well-ventilated!

When you wipe down surfaces after sanding between coats use clean rags slightly dampened with mineral spirits.
