The TEAR DROPPER'S SONG...

Postby cracker39 » Tue Feb 21, 2006 9:22 am

I think that the people on this forum need their own song. I started this song for Ira on another thread, but I'm having so much fun with it, that I rewrote it and added two more verses, and now, it's "The Tear Dropper's Song". It's sung to the tune of Jackson, made popular by the duets of Johnny Cash and his wife June, and by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood.

I envision Tear Droppers sitting around the camp fire, breaking out the guitar, banjo, juice harp, or whatever musical instrument is handy, and singing a rolicking version of:

The Tear Dropper's Song

I got hooked with the Tear Drop Fever, hotter than a pepper sprout,
I’ve still hooked on Tear Drops, ever since the fire went out.
I started building this Tear Drop, I ain’t a messin’ around,
Lookin’ everywhere for trailer parts,
Runnin all over town.

All the folks over at Home Depot, and even Lowes know my name.
And over at the Harbor Freight store, takin’ my money is their big game.
My garage is stuffed with lumber, my poor car has to sit outside,
When I see how much work there's left to do,
I just wanna run and hide

That’s what happens when you build a Tear Drop, It seems to take over your life,
Sometimes you just plain forget that you have kids and a wife.
When you started buildin’ a Tear Drop, It all seemed to be just a lark,
But, now you spend all your spare time
Working on it from dawn to dark.

Well, go on and build your Tear Drop, go ahead and wreck your health.
Sink all that money into it, make a big fool of yourself
Yeah, I'm building this ole ’ Tear Drop, building it for better or worse,
Spend every penny on tools and lumber,
Ain’t no money left in my purse.

What am I gonna do with this Tear Drop, if I ever get ‘er done?
Guess I’ll just have to go campin, and get up with the mornin’ sun.
I’ll hook it and hit the highway, make my first campin’ run.
I may be stuck building this Tear Drop,
But, it shore is a lot of fun!!!

At least, it is for me.... :D :applause: $>

The teardroppers song

Postby rooster » Tue Feb 21, 2006 2:02 pm

Cracker, That song just might get you one of those western song awards,
and make you famous and you'll hire someone to finish your teardrop. . . .

Nice song, someone will sing it at IRG in July.

I play guitar--so I'll write the music.

Louisiana HEAVY blues style?

And it's a JEW'S Harp!

You goyam kill me every time.

Toby Keith lives 4 miles down the road from me. I'll take the lyrics to him and see if he'll make a hit out of it. :laughing1:
Chris :D

The tension between what is good enough and what is beyond that creates the space for character to become our work.

Ira, I knew that, but I was afraid I might offend you if I spelled it that way.

And, it's already got music...tune from Jackson. Unless you think it needs original music. I'm a lyracist, not a musician.

Speaking of which...I didn't put in a chorus after each verse like the song Jackson has.
