Ok, I have a decision to make

Postby Jeeper92 » Mon May 21, 2007 1:47 pm

I was driving past a house the other day and stumbled across a Shasta 14 footer that is in decnet shape and GET this hte guy is only asking 200 bucks for it. I have a few options here. Which one should i go for?
1. Buy it keep it at my sisters and clean it up a little.
Id like to keep it at my house but it wont fit in the garage and you arent allowed to have anything in your driveway
2. Buy it and sell it on ebay, with the money i make i would purchase a new 5'8 trailer and built a weekender htat fits in my garage
3. buy it and tear it apart and use left over trailer to construct a tear that fits in my garage

Would a 6 cylinder jeep be able to pull the SHASTA?
Please respond, I need some advice before the end of the week
Thanks guys!

I say, buy it first...decide what to do with it latter...200 bucks issa helluva price if it is in decent shape...your Jeep should pull it...

I figured that would be the response. What do you think about selling it on ebay? What price do you think it would fetch?

how good a photog are you?

most ebay ads show very little about the camper/trailer/car/computer being sold.

poorly lit and badly focused seem to be the norm for ad pix on ebay (and craigslist, if not more so).

You wanna make 6 or 7 hundred bucks on it? Buy it. Power wash the outside, dust and mop the inside, make sure you don't have 'wrinkled' wood or obvious water damage (stains, holes, etc.) and get good photos in your ad.

Describe the trailer honestly.

You may not make your listing fees back, but you just might make a killing.

You guys all got the "buy it" part right. But use it for parts. Turn it into a teardrop, or a weekender. That's what Gage did, and it worked for him! ;)

:R I'm closer! :R Buy it and if it is good use it or sell it to me for 300. Then go buy a HF trailer and build build build.

http://www.vintagetrailercrazy.com/

How about a 57 for a little less than $10,000
Makes your bargain look more like a bargain huh !

That 14' shasta probably doesn't weigh as much as 1/2 of the teardrops on this forum. It just holds a bigger volumn of air.

Go for it !!

I bought a 16' Ritz Craft almost 10 years ago for $100.00 it sat in the back yard for 6 or 7 years . My sister asked us if we would share it if they paid lot rent at a campgrounds so we did. The litle trailer is there year around and we enjoy getting away on the weekends to it. Sis found another trailer already set in the same campgrounds now we can get together and go camping . So just find an inexpensive campgrounds. What you saved going in will pay for a years rent.

I htink Im going

Postby Jeeper92 » Tue May 22, 2007 10:16 pm

to just purchase the trailer and see how it is, for 150 I cant pass that up. If i decide to tear it down and use different parts of it with teh trailer be too heavy to use for a tear. Id like to tear it down and use the larger trailer and build the weekender, with a jeep flarer to it, chrome accents and a diamond skid plate running on hte bottom, and paint it red to match my jeep, would also have to have some big tires on it.

Would hte trailer be too heavy?

Look at the frame is it ladder type construction. Are there "I" beams down the center or is the whole thing square tube, What can be safely removed to lighten the frame. Some of these little booger have a pig iron frame that is way to heavy for a tear. This is your call, good luck
