So I have an old frame and axle laying around...

Here's what I have.

I have already purchased beefier steel to replace the rotted cross pieces.
I chopped the crosspieces out and heres how it sits.

I have very limited experience with trailers so please tell me what you guys think I could use this frame for. How much weight would the springs and axle hold?

I think the bolt pattern may be 5x4.5" (i have to check in the morning) wich is the same as my wrangler. If so, I am thinking about building my first teardrop on it. I would love to build a small one similar to the design I saw here: http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=20196

I also realized that I have the front suspension (shocks and leaf springs, with perches) from the front half of my samurai laying around. I am wondering if they can be used with this trailer's axle.

I'm no expert on Samurai parts but that sure looks like hubs w/rims and tires to me.

Is that a (former) HF 40x48 trailer? Looks like one. If so, it ought to be good to around 900 lbs of load (depending on the weight of the reassembled trailler). OTOH, if you've got the Samurai parts, why not add in a salvage-yard axle out from under a 3/4-ton pickup?

You'd have a very high GVWR for the frame-size, then.

Have you considered fixing the Samurai?

I cut the samurai in half and made a trailer out of the rear end. Thats why I am just interested in using it for parts.

Sorry, I forgot the laughing face. Just being silly. I like the trailer.
