Greetings from an Arkansas Newbie

Postby SharonB » Wed Sep 26, 2007 10:41 pm

Hi, I'm Sharon, from the Ozark Mountain region of Arkansas. My husband and I saw the TV show on Teardrops a couple of years ago and have been having "teardrop dreams" ever since! We actually have the plans from KuffelCreek for a someday building project, but have yet to see a teardrop "live and in person." I've been enjoying the pictures and advice on this forum so much that even though it may be awhile before we start our project, I decided to join the forum and the fun.

Sharon, welcome to the board...keep on readin' and learnin' and dreamin'...that is how most of us started...if you can, try and come down for the LCGII gathering at Lake Bistineau SP about 25 mi SE of Shreveport...there will be around 60 tears of all types in attendance...all the reservation sites are taken but there are cabins available or bring a tent and we will find a place for ya to set up...a camera, a notebook and your party shoes will be needed if ya comeon down..........

Hi Sharon and welcome to the forum. Thanks for the info on my Prairie Creek thread. Feel free to stop by if you want to see a tear in person.

Thank you both for the invitations. Madjack, I have seen the threads on the big weekend, and I'm keeping it in mind but can't commit ahead - my husband is a flyfishing guide and October is prime fishing season, so he may be booked for Friday and/or Saturday. If we can come, we won't need more than a parking place because he has a camper shell on the back of the pickup we can crawl in to sleep - not a camper, mind you, a low shell-top, and he built a platform over the wheel-wells to put a mattress on. Sitting up in a tear would be like having vaulted ceilings by comparison!

Victor, I would love to stop by and see your teardrop; we will try to do that and get to meet you.

Welcome to this great forum !!! ! I used the Kuffel Creek plans too , but like someone told me .... put them down and look at this site and other plans too. I used the Kuffel profile, etc.

The teardroppers in this South Central group are the BEST!!! I tent camped with them several times while thinking and building and have made great friends.

I'm camping at Lake Tenkiller in Eastern Oklahoma this weekend at the Snake Creek Campground. good fall weather!!!

If you see one in person -- be sure to lay in it, lift the hatch open yourself, stand at the galley counter, move the hitch around.... get a real feel for it!

You'll love it !! Come camping with us soon!!

to the playground Sharon. Jump in and enjoy we love newbies. I didn't see a real teardrop until I was half done and realized they were plenty big enough. Now I have to do another.

Welcome the the forum. :applause:

There are several of us that live in a 100 mile radius of you.
I'm about 85 mile south of you on I-540.
I will be going to LCG II at the of this month. :)
Check the South Central part of the forum for information of camp out or meeting of the group in the close area.
There has been talk of camping in December in Kansas at the Kan./Mo. border. :applause:
Feel free to come and visit a few hours or camp with the group in a tent or camper. Look and ask lots of questions and take pictures.

Thanks Pat, it's good to meet you. If we can't make LCG II we will watch for the next campout - December at the KS-MO border would be a good possibility (assuming no ice). Victor is going to be camped near Rogers this weekend and has graciously invited me for a "tour" so I'm hoping to see my first "live" teardrop soon!

Very good!
I noticed Victor post. I'm glad you will be able to visit with him and look over his trailer. :)
You will probly want to take a camera and a note pad. For all the notes and pictures you will taking.
Sorry you will not be able to make LCG II to get a look at a lot of trailers in one place.
I'm sure there will be other close campings you will find. We will get together in the Spring, I think at Bever Bend State Park near Broken Bow,OK ;)
That may give you some time to read and look at pictures. :)
