Hello All,

I / we are newbies as well. I'm Ed and my bride is Di(ana). Together we are reddz.

We started out camping in a tent, then a M/C pop-up and lastly a 22" TT. I've always wanted to build something different and have been checking out Tear Drops for 10 years now.

So I too have bought Kevin's plans and Steve Frederick's building guide. I have ordered a 5 X 10 trailer and should have it next week. I've been cleaning out my garage for weeks and still don't have enough room. But I'm going to start anyhow.

Any advise or info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the board. In addition to the stuff you already have, you may want to download the 'Generic Benroy Plans' at the top of the page. Study all of them before you start and it will save you a bunch of possible head scratching.

Welcome, and let me say ditto, to what Mike and Kerry said...between the 3 sets of plans, you should be well covered...and of course, for the price of a pic or two, we will provide you with all the advice you can use...some of it will actually be useful :D ;)

Hi Ed & Diana,

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have good plans to begin. But if you have any questions, just ask, that's why we all hang out here.

And when you start your build, be sure and post pictures, 'cause we all love pictures.

See you around.

The only advice I can give you is to start early on the addiction therapy, cuz the longer you wait the harder it will be.

Some of the signs of the addiction are:

staying up nights late thing about your build and the changes you will make
continually drawing designs and plans
sitting in front of the computer asking questions to the forum
getting involved in the "Am I a thread Killer" thread
ignoring family members because you have to draw your plans up for the 150th time.

You know you are really sick when you continually stop building to make changes to your design

The only cure is to put down the pen and paper step back from the computer and start creating sawdust until your trailer is complete.

Welcome reddz... I am relatively new here myself and am about half way through building our teardrop project. The information you can find here is just great. Spend some time going through sdrtipper2's Index and you can find the answer to almost any question. What you can't find, ask and someone will always jump in with an answer.

Good luck!! 8)

I'm hoping I get this right. Not quite like email at work. Here goes ...

rbeemer,

I think I have the bug bad. I've collected magazines articles for years, been to several websites for months and used up one eraser already. Is building the only cure?

b.bodemer,

A friend sells several lines of trailers and he has one of the manufacturers making my 5 X10 for me. Steel tube frame, front & rear stabilizers and all welded. I'm still looking for sources of 5 X 10 plywood and laminate that won't break the bank with shipping charges.

I'll post pictures when I get some.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome.

I found 5x10 Okume at Boulter Plywood for $129.00. I called them about shipping for 3 sheets and they said 'approximately' $130.00 to York, PA.
