Hi Susan, welcome to the forum, hope you do get involved in our unique teardrop lifestyle. I checked out your bike pic, and it looks like you are in pretty good shape for "50ish". Do try to attend a gathering in your area, you will meet some great people and if you look hungry and lonesome, they might even invite you to sit down and join them for dinner. I say that, because it always works for me, when the sweet wife isn't able to go camping with me.

Towing a teardrop is a snap, and you should have no concern about your lack of towing skills. Once you are the proud owner, hook her up and head for a near-empty parking lot and practice backing up. Remember, when you place your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel and move it to the left while backing, that guides your teardrop to the left also. Simple as that.

Enjoy your prospective purchase, and post pics of hauler, bike and tear.

Is your jersey one of the limited edition "Fat Cyclist" ones that raised money for breast cancer research?

Sorry to be so late getting back to everybody. I couldn't get the password right on my home puter.

Wolfix, Yes that is a FatCyclist WIN jersey! That pic is from a ride I did on the 8th, the HOW100, which is a fundraiser for breast cancer research. So that jersey seemed just the ticket. BTW, I really like the twinsix jersey fit.

Unfortunately, I actually have to work today, so not much time to spend here, but will do a quick looksee thru the board.

Welcome. It is so much fun here on this forum. You will make great friends here. I am new at towing also but i have put several hundred miles on the tear and going forward is easy. it is the backing up that I need practice with. I am told that it gets easier just practice practice practice.

Susan,
Welcome to the forum. We are glad to see another member from here in Tennessee. If we get enough builders and owners in this area we might catch up with each other while checking out the "Volunteer". :D

Thanks, R2G. Portland! You're close too.

Oddly, it was the UTK Alumni newsletter that first gave me the bug to get a teardrop. Here's the link with the cover picture:

Wonder who owns that one?

Hi Susan,

Welcome to the forum! When I started into this teardrop adventure, I'd never towed anything either, but hey, that was 8000 teardrop miles ago! (Still can't back up very well  )
You're going to love 'em; teardrops are a wonderful way to camp!

Have fun and keep the bicycling pictures coming!

Welcome Susan!

Ah backups are easy.
Drop down the front wheel on the trailer.
Just unhook the trailer.
Move it where you want it and hook it back up to the car. 8)
That is sometimes how I do it. Then practicing in an empty parking lot and some plastic trash cans help build confidence in backing the trailer using mirrors.

:)

You can do it at you own way you feel confortable.
8)

Pat

PS I use a flags on poles on maginets to hitch up while backing up to the trailer by my self. One flag on the hitch ball and one flag on the receiver hitch. Line - them - up in the mirror and back up and the hand at the bottom of the steering wheel using the mirror backing. Turn the way you want to turn that way.
Life is to short always eat dessert first.
