Time for some big time luxury

Postby 2old2tent » Fri Aug 04, 2006 4:18 pm

Hi all.
I'm getting too old to lay on the ground so I'm planning a TTT around a former pop-up camper that I have. Probably a lot like the Compact but with my own personal changes. That's the name of the game right?

We live about 40 miles south of Topeka Kansas and plan to do some primative camping. I worked as an RV repairman for a time and I see my relatives and the troubles they have with they're trailers and motorhomes and I don't want any of that.

Hope to get my '68 Rebel station wagon up to snuff for a tow vehicle, but if not there are three others to press into service. My '78 CJ5 would do the trick but not for any long distances. 8)

The archives are great here and the give and take are fun. Hope to learn alot.

Jack

Welcome to the forum. I'm about 50 miles east of Topeka, Lenexa, KS. Did you notice the new off-road tech forum? You know Jeepers got to stick together. That's the basic use of my TD is camping when I'm Jeepin.

Welcome to the board and it sounds like you will be a benefit to us too !
It's so nice to see another camper in this South Central area.

In fact, we're having a campout at Grand Lake, Ok (east of Tulsa) and hope you can come by. I know from my experience, it really really helped to see a teardrop in person and even lay down in one!

Thanks for the hello everyone.

Hi Mike. I was working in Shawnee until about 2 years ago. Just a 75 mile comute. 1 way.
Loved the pics of Tuttlecreek on your photo page. We haven't been up there for a while, the group I ran with kind of fell apart. I feel your pain on that broken axle deal, my baby has a busted dizzy right now. Too many other things to repair so it will sit for another week or two.

Julie, we lived in Coffeyville when we were first married (1977) and Northeast OK was our favorite weekend getaway. I think we spent half our time running around getting lost there.

As soon as I get a good digital camera I'll load up a heap of pics.

Thanks again.
