Just bought the trailer...

Postby petertl » Sat Aug 26, 2006 12:29 pm

I saw the Teardrop trailers on the Travel Channel and said I have to have one. I do home improvements and refuse to get a pick-up truck. Transporting tools and supplies are at times difficult in my small cars. I have been thinking about getting a small utility trailer. I saw the teardrop and thought about a dual purpose trailer.
I am looking at building a version of the Benroy. I am using the Harbor Freight 4 x 8 trailer.
I am looking at a fast, easy, and simple build.
I will keep all up on my progress.
Thanks to all on this forum and the wealth of info, Thanks.

Peter,

Welcome to the board. Good luck with your build. I know that there are some others that have made dual purpose teardrops and you probably can get some ideas from them.

BTW: Where are you from?

Welcome Peter,
I think the easiest is the weekender but using the Benroy directions for my build.

Enjoy

Peter-

Welcome!

One consideration on the utility side of the trailer; you are gonna have alot of weight with tools, hardware, etc. right?

Just something to think about during the planning....

Cheers,

Coop

Yes,
The trailer is rated for 1175 lbs. I am not putting a full galley, just a couple of shelves. No frills, just basically a box. I hope to keep the trailer light so I won't over load it when I am carrying the tools.
Thanks,
Peter
