Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. My name is Gwen and I'm from Altoona, Alabama. My husband, Rodney, and I are building our own version of the weekender. We're calling our project the "Thwacker" and its kind of a military theme. We really enjoy camping and saw the Travel Channel story on the Teardrop a couple of years ago and got the bug. We're hopefully going to be ready to hit the road for the Guntersville outing in Sept.

Dare I ask what a "Thwacker" is, or is it something I already know by another nickname? Or should I leave it be? :?

I've no idea how we came up with Thwacker...but we did and it stuck. It was either Thwacker or Chuckwagon haha.

You should write your email address the way I formated it, that way you don't get the web bots picking it up so much and sent out to spammers.

Hi Maisy,

I need pictures of the Thwacker...

Until I get pictures, maybe you can tell me how the Thwacker is different than the Weekender.

BTW, MJ really needs pictures of the Thwacker. If he doesn't get his fix, there's not telling what he'll do. :o  8)

Just kidding...

So can you describe your Thwacker to us?

Mike...

Welcome Maisy,
Seems we are a little testy about the pictures this week. :D Tell ya what, y'aulllll bring the thwacker up to Ok. on the 15 and I will take pictures for Mike and MJ. I can then give Mike a full discourse on the differences. ;)

Sorry I've been so busy I've not been able to update...
Hubby and I are working feverishly to get finished with the Thwacker...we've taken some pictures along the way but I've not been able to upload them yet. We've got a week to get it wrapped up so we can be ready for the Alabama outing next week. We're skinning the outside and finishing up the interior. Its been interesting since we basically making it up as we go along. The hubby is going for overkill and I have to keep reminding him to go lighter. He's just anxious but 2x4's add weight really fast haha. I'll try to get pictures this evening.

Welcome, Maisy or I guess I should say Gwen, good to see more Alabama campers on the site! :applause: Isn't Altoona near Gadsden? We've camped at Noccalula Falls before. We are in Madison county (near Huntsville). We'll be at Guntersville next week, can't wait to meet you.
I have to work Friday :( so we won't be there until about five o'clock.
See you there!

Sherrie
Good grief, isnt it the weekend yet?
Maybe if I sleep in the camper the week
will pass faster
