Hello everyone; my name is Mike and I live in upstate NY in the foothills of the Adirondacks. I have been browsing the board for some time now and have enjoyed many of the posts and photos. I must say the craftsmanship of these trailers is second to none they are all beautifully made. I myself have decided to jump in the fray and build in the spring. I have purchased a small used trailer frame for a hundred bucks. The frame seems to be a HF type of bolt together construction, however the frame has been welded. It is a bare frame and in good condition. My short term goal is scrape, paint, and re-pack the wheel bearings.
All of the designs on this board are amazing, one could spend months deciding on what exactly to do (I did). After all is said and done I have decided to build a small version of the Chummy.
My idea of camping is pretty much keep it simple, just the basics. My trailer will be equipped with the chuck style kitchen and sleeping quarters and small, small, small. The other criteria is light.
The plans for the Chummy have already been ordered and once I get a chance to study them I will finalize my design.
This is my first venture into trailer building, I do have some woodworking skills and a good tool selection. As an apartment dweller the only thing I am lacking is a space for my project.
