Howdi Folks

Postby BigWally » Thu Apr 19, 2007 1:16 am

Greetings from Fresno, California!!!!

Just to really let you folks know a little about me I'll list some of the jobs I've had. If you pay close attention you'll see a trend.

Roughneck on oil drilling rigs
U.S. Navy Electronics Tech
Roughnecking again
Drilling Foreman Trainee
Drilling Foreman

In 1985 the oil exploration business went down the toilet, oops time to learn a new trade at 34 years old.

Construction Millright Apprentice
Journeyman Millwright

Plant Maintenance Lackey

I'm building a "Woodie" teardrop, hate to take pictures, (my sister takes pictures of pictures); but I'm glad to find this site.

Big Wally's Woodie Wagon is approximately 1/3 completed and I'm ready to build the maple trim . The sides are now finished w/ mahogany, and if any of you could point me in the right direction; I need to get some ideas on woodie trim construction.

I'll get my daughter to get some pictures, I'll even wear a tie for them.

Welcome!!! Glad to have you aboard. Love to see your pics of your woodie, sounds like it is going fantastic.
If you would like to see teardrops up close, there is a gathering in Redding first weekend in May. My husband & I hope to get to that one with our getting closer to road ready TD.
Enjoy the fun and share lots of pics. :pictures:
Who knows since we are both in California, maybe we'll cross paths.
Good luck, Martha :)

Thanks Martha, 1st weekend in May is not good, but I hope to be "Coming out of the Garage" in June. Send money because this thing is getting rather pricey. I'll probably be afraid to pull it down the road once I'm done.
I'll be traveling mainly with my 12 year old daughter/chaperone, my wife thinks camping is staying at a motel with log cabins.
Anyway thanks for the reply and I'll be checking in ever so often.

Welcome to the forum BigWally ~

Wallace: :)
Your maple trim and sides made of mahogany sounds pleasing to the eye?
Really hope you can convince your daughter to take some pictures as this
forum is all about seeing the process and asking questions. A few pictures of
your rig will bring the best out to answer your Woodie Trim Construction questions.

BW, welcome to the forum. Try this link for wood trim.
Wood trim

P.S. This is not mine (it's way too nice). Just an example of what could be done.

I hope the owner of this tear doesn't mind me posting this link.

Welcome to our happy playground. If you spend lots of time in the Hall of Fame you may find what you are looking for in trim. There are many different ways and lots different ideas.

Have fun and find a photographer... 8)

Welcome Wally and have fun !!!!
If you need a job, western Oklahoma is booming with the black gold.

And then you'd be close to take the teardrop around Palo Duro Canyon, TX and head up to Colorado or the beautiful lakes in eastern Oklahoma
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

BW...great opportunity to see a large cross section of restored, and home built projects at the Dam Gathering, probably 60+ trailers...Antlers Campground, Lake Shasta first weekend of May...It'll maybe give you an idea on the direction that you want to take, if you haven't decided on it yet...Doug
