G'Day Everone, you all seem like a good bunch of campers and i like your hang-out.

Im lookin for a bit of good advice. so i thought id ask my question here
Mid next year im going around Australia and i was going to use a good old tent ... BUT a tear drop seems a much Cooler way of doin it and it would be easyer than setting up the tent every day.

so here is my Question .
I need a Teardop / camper which will take a bit of torture, Rough Dirt roads / bush bashing 4X4 beach sand . and im lookin at about 20,000Ks thats 12,500 miles in its first big trip.

I would like to build it myself ( For the satisfaction )
so here is my back ground. panel beater, spray panter and ive do heaps of steel fabrication and sheet metal work. i can cut a pc of timber with a saw, i can even cut it straight.
I am very handy with a MIG welder and TIG welder.
and uaslly i can follow plans .

my spelling aint too good. but i try.

So any advice would be great. Any links would be tops.

Well, G'Day to you all and have a great day.. Thanks BOB.

Welcome Bob,

Sounds to me like you need to visit with Paul C. who also lives downunder. He is finishing his 3rd trailer now and I think he takes
his into the outback.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the forums and get in and post and ask questions. When you decide what you want to build, post lots of

Sorry for the thread Hijack...

I'm using my brother's Sami for hunting season. They're really tough little vehicles.

G'Day Bob, Welcome to the madness we call "Having Fun" I've built an offroad TD that's been to Birdsville and several points North of Adelaide. We are heading over to Cape Arid in WA on the 28th Sept and we are taking the TD with us as well. If you need some local help you can e-mail me and I'll help in any way I can.
Cheers
Paul

to the playground Bob. We have a trailer tutorial above as well as free plans. The Generic Benroy will get you through most of any shape you choose. The build forums will help a bunch too.

In the "Hall of Fame" there are a lot of links to build blogs that are wonderfully helpful. And our resident Aussie (Paul) who builds wonderful teardrops.

Enjoy the site and please be generous with the
