Hi all

My name is Randy Hager and I live in Venus, Texas which is south of the DFW metroplex. I've been working in the aerospace/aircraft field for a little over 30 years. I enjoy almost anything mechanical. I also like working with wood. I want to build a larger trailer then is shown here because I have two growing boys that need space. We have been, up till now been camping in a tent and the screened shelters at the State Parks. I've been looking at enlarging the Compact II I have seen on Andrew's web site. I want it to be 13ft long but also 7.5ft wide with cooking inside the trailer and a portapotty. My wife said we didn't need a shower but she might end up changing her mind some time in the future if we just happen to camp in a place without one. I'm originally from Ohio and is where all of my family is still at. I've owned only one trailer before this but never tow it but just sat in a park that my brother ran. You all have very great looking tears. I don't have a personal picture for an avatar; don't know if you would want to see my mug.

welocme and of course we want to see your "mug". Can put a family pic up so we can see all. Your trailer sounds like quite the project. Even though not a tear there is all kinds of advice here. Hope you stick around

Welcome Randy,

Glad you decided to join us. Just go down to General Discussion and post what you are trying to design and build, and I am sure you will get several excellent suggestions and answers.

As far as your "mug".....look to your left and ask yourself, do I really look any worse than this guys does. Or do like Eunice said and post a family picture.

See you around. :)

To the playground Randy. I guess Eunice and Mike covered the big stuff so I am the cheering section. Your size comes pretty close to a TTT so just jump in and enjoy!

We would love to see pictures too of course. Remember to document as you go cause you can't go back.

Well, I was trying to fit certain items that would make camping a little more enjoyable. We really need to be able to cook due to the fire bans here in Texas that they have almost every summer. This one was the wettest I've seen in the 7.5 years I've been here. I was going to do a Lil'Diner from Mike but my wife wasn't real crazy about the rear cook areas of any tear drop. I'm still thinking of doing one like the Maxi-Tear. The one that I would like to do is the Dream Trailer that Mike Schneider has on one of his design sites. I have a larger SUV to tow with and I also have a 1982 Chevy SWB that will tow too. I will document as I go just to show DMV for the title.

Postby Randy S. Hager » Sun Oct 28, 2007 4:05 pm

Hi Bill.
Venus is just south of Dallas on U.S Hwy 67. I've heard of Crosby buy don't know were that is. The real fun will begin after the trailer is built. I will not want to go to work any more. My sons are just turning 8 & 5 (started over) so we will have fun exploring the Texas State Parks. I hope to get it done so we can go the gulf coast this coming summer.
