Hey Chick! I have a 5 wide LG and read in one of your posts that you bought a cot stuff organizer. I was trying to figure out how you would use it and, lo and behold, you have a great picture showing how you mounted it. Is that a shower curtain rod?

I rushed out to Cabellas and picked one up today at lunch.

What a beautiful paint job.

Thank you everyone for your hospitality and compliments. It's good to be among people who don't think I'm insane for being enchanted with a trailer.

I prefer tents to be in natural colors and I love the green on my Element so it was an easy decision to paint the trailer (once I found a painter!).

Bill -- that's just a 1" diameter wood pole that I bought at Home Depot and which they cut to 6' in length. Cost a couple bucks. And for a couple more dollars I bought the closet rod hangers (stainless) -- also at Home Depot. The pole slides easily in and out of the hangers.

This weekend I'm going to have Home Depot cut another wood pole (dowling?) so that I can hang the smaller (green) Cabelas cot organizer (72" x 11.5") at the front wall. Want to be able to reach in the door and easily retrieve a flashlight, etc.

Here's the link.

For anyone who did not see the other Little Guy thread in the General Discussion area, in lieu of cabinetry I attached two Cabelas XL cot organizers (80" x 14") in the rear galley opening.

Here's the link.

And in addition to using the velcro fasteners on the cot organizer, I used a staple gun to further secure the organizers to either side of the pole.

You're welcome -- glad I have something to contribute on this forum since the only thing I cut to get my teardrop was a check.

By the way, for anyone who is interested in the paint job: It has 3 coats of clear on top. And if anyone wants to know what it cost, I'm pleased to reveal that. Got some wildly varying estimates. Wildly (as much as $4-5k), which gave me quite a laugh a couple times. I am delighted with the painter's work -- they even removed the galley door and did a masterful job painting the vent cover.

And I should caution that I am notorious on the Element forum for posting gratuitous Gidget pics.

In a meeting today (well, two meetings, actually) I found myself sketching teardrop designs.

My new favorite doodle.

Are you sure that is a green trailer and not a gray one???? :D

BTW, your Gidget looks like she enjoys posing for pictures.

Gidget's a bit of a diva and she can work it. She also gets a lot of practice posing for tourists on the National Mall and in her therapy work.

As you can see, I'm a very proud dog-mom.

$1200. Considering I had almost gone with the $750 guaranteed (by the manufacturer) to-peel after 5 years Camoskinz package, the additional cost of a high-quality paint job seemed reasonable.

And I had a good feeling about the painter which panned out -- the paint is flawless and no overspray, anywhere. It exceeded my expectation and hope.

The downside is it's so nice I'm going to fret over chipping and scratching.

Will start layering on the Zaino polish in the spring.

I figured that the cost would be about that. Actually I was thinking a couple hundred more at least. My wife had here Explorer repainted about 4 years ago and it was $2500.00. And they did not do a nice a job as your painter did.

This was the first trailer he ever painted.

He may charge the next person more.

They had not anticipated taking the galley door off or painting the diamond plate (which they did because the grouting around the diamond plate just was not going to look good). We had discussed the possibility, beforehand, the aesthetic of painting the diamond plate but had not decided to do so.

Some things work out -- I really like the diamond plate painted.
