(another) hello from austin

Postby aratlynn » Wed Mar 19, 2008 3:08 pm

hello all! what a great site -absolutely fantastic! I have been daydreaming about a teardrop for about a year or two now, not sure whether to build or buy (i have a background in architecture, so the thought of building is quite exciting, but am a new mom and dont have much time. However, the CAD section of this forum is pretty cool and anyone needing help with 2 or 3D drafting, I would love to colaborate) Anyway, I recently came across a 1948 Tourette(?) teardrop for sale and fell in love. We are like 95% sure that we will buy it tomorrow. I found you guys while googling info on titles for a teardrop. The one we are considering does not have a title, so I that is the only thing holding me back. I understand that one is not required in Texas, but that it is a 'gray area'. Any info you guys could give would be GREATLY appreciated.

Very nice to meet you all and even if this one doesn't work out, I'm keepin the dream alive!

Welcome! I started my teardrop construction 3 years ago, right before my first daughter was born. I'm still not done. Buying is a smart decision if you want to go camping any time soon!

Welcome to the forum...

Can't help you with the title stuff, but I'm sure one of the Texas guys or gals will be along shortly!

Image to the playground and Image On the little one.

You might call your Dept. of Revenue or what ever they call it, but get as much documentation as you can. A history of owners might be fun to have anyway.

Title issues happen every day in all 50 states. Don't let that be an issue if you are in love with your find. After a fire destroyed our home the wife and I purchased a beautiful 5 acre parcel with trees and spring fed creek. It had a 2 bedroom mobil home on it. However 5 people in a 2 bedroom mobil was not going to work . So I purchased an old house car a 59 smoker by whitley for the girls temporary bedroom . It was purchased from an elderly coulpe who used it as a camping cottage but they had lost the title years ago. I simply took the bill of sale to an attorney and he had all the necessary papers generated to allow me to sail thur the Indiana BMW. Total cost $50.00
Growing older but not up !
