Hello Everybody

Postby mcwbyu82 » Sat Jun 21, 2008 9:13 pm

After almost four weeks of being on here way too much I thougth I better finally say hi. My name is Mickey and my wife and I live and go to school in Utah, but are currently staying with her family in Medicine Hat, Alberta for the summer. I stummbled upon this site and the world of teardrops after seeing a "Article Ad" for Littleguy in one of those free auto classified magazines. They looked way cool so when i got home I went to their website and a few google searches later, well you know how it goes.
As I said I have been reading like a mad man. I plan on starting a build when I head back to Utah the first of August. I am pretty settled on building fairly close to the Generic Benroy plans (thanks Mike) but doing it on the 4x8 HF Frame using a similar floor setup as the Zephyr. I also have some ideas for my personalized galley.
Anyway just wanted to say hi, and look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome Mickey!

As Mandy pointed out, there are a few of us here in Utah. We're a bit north of you in the Salt Lake area. When you start building, check out this thread on SLC suppliers for build parts:

Have fun!

Welcome Mickey! I bought my teardrop back in 2006 and have enjoyed using it in Utah camping tremendously. Jeanette did an excellent job with those Benroy plans-I have seen that teardrop. You will enjoy this Forum and the information on just about any topic on which you have a question.

Thanks for the compliments, Jim and Mandy, but I should point out that I used Steve Frederick's shop manual the most for my build. Mickey, you can find a bunch of beautiful Generic Benroy examples in this thread:

Welcome,
You can't go wrong with a basic Benroy. Then adding your personal touches, way cool.

Nice to have you aboard, Mickey, I can see you have bitten badly by the build-it-yourself teardrop bug. Plan carefully and individualize that tear to your own liking. Take pics, post em and we'll see you at a TD gathering sometime in the future.
