Newbie from CT looking for any Wazat owners

Postby Piscoot » Wed Aug 10, 2016 8:02 pm

Hello all my wife and I enjoy camping in 8' box Coleman popup, but I been trying my best to convince it's time to go tear drop!
I have been fascinated by all your tiny trailers. Been lurking for awhile and drooling. Some of you sure do have some talent and I'm quiet jealous! There is really some nice builds on TNTTT.
I've been looking or at least trying to find some more info before contacting Microlite directly on the Wazat model. Not a lot of information out there and looking for thoughts on the tiny camper.
Thanks in advance!

Howdy Piscoot, Welcome to the Forum... :applause: :applause:

I found this pic at:
http://www.johnweeks.com/tour/campers/

You have found a great site for TD information & Techniques... Check out the top of Page Links like Design Resources and Hall of Fame, there are some truly fantastic builds here, as you probably saw and even some that resemble your Wazat!!! :applause: :applause:
AND if you slide down the BOARD INDEX, you'll find everything from TEARDROP CONSTRUCTION TIPS & TECHNIQUES to CHASSIS... and even SKINNING TECHNIQUES... This is a fantastic Forum...

Good luck on your build... 8)

Thanks for the link! I actually viewed all those manufactures!
I'll check out your suggestions here on TNTTT for sure, I'm surprised the little information or owners of the Wazat.

Take a look in design library at the "Mini-Hopper" and the "Square Teardrop", these are both square-cornered TD's that resemble the Wazat... And in the Hall of Fame there a quite a few squared TD's... check out "Super Bee", "About Time Jim", and "The Justintime" for just a few of the many great looking square-cornered TD's :)

Check out this thread regarding "The Grasshopper" TD... http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=46197
and this thread regarding the "Nano Weekender": becomes a mockup... (Nice Pics of Build Ideas and Computer Mock-up)... viewtopic.php?p=967145#p967145

Once you have looked at the various builds and designs, you will start formulating a basic design/shape you like, and then get started. It might help you to draw out what you want on the garage floor, a large piece of cardboard, etc.; if you use cardboard or something you can lean against the wall, it will take shape and size for you

Good luck and try to get out to manufacturers and some gatherings near you...

I have seen a number of Microlite trailers and talked with their owners. I am very impressed with quality and design (I do not impress easily). Encountered a family (4) with a Vymeron this summer and they had it with most of the options. Have also talked with some one who had a Wazat 1who liked it.
Ours is a Grasshopper design

That's one fine Grasshopper teardrop you built yourself.
I'm curious though what's the tongue weight?
