European TD builder (to be?)

Postby minirailz » Wed Jan 18, 2017 4:05 am

Hey there,

I'm Dennis and I'm getting started with my first TD/TTT.

After road tripping last year in a soaking wet tent, Me and girlfriend are looking for a tent that's already good to go when you arrive.
So after some quick looking around, a TD seems the best option.

Buying is no option since these thingies are rare and expensive (15k) around here.

Building is what I will try, I'm quite handy so I guess that should work more or less.

I already have a 3D design, a trailer and some delaminated plywood (yes you read that correctly).
So I guess I'll go and start a building journal now.

Dennis :)

Hi Dennis, Welcome to the forum. There is all the information you will ever need for building your tear on this site and an abundance of styles. It is much more fun building your own as opposed to buying a ready made one because you can put your soul into it. They are also good ways of meeting people and making new friends as once you roll onto a campsite people always come over to look at it. When you tell them you built it yourself the reaction is usually "really!" and then you have the fun of telling them how you went about building it. I built mine using a lot of stuff other people had dumped which saved a bit of cash. Anyway take lots of pictures of your build, looking forward to seeing them,
Evan from Scotland. :wine:

Hi Evan,

Thanks for your reaction, I do like building it so far.
I hope it is going to be safe to drive and sleep in, although I don't think it will be an issue. :)

Our soaking-wet-tent-adventure was last september, doing the North-Coast 500.
Beautiful Scottish landscapes, I do hope to return soon.
