Hello from Virginia

Postby sweetronnie » Thu Jun 15, 2017 4:58 pm

Hi, my name is Ronnie Sweet. I live in Waynesboro, VA. I've been wanting to build a TearDrop trailer for several years now. I've been doing some research for a little while now and I've gotten an old pop-up camper frame that I'm getting ready to start. If anyone has any suggestions[album][album][/album][/album] that would make this project easier, please share with me. I'm super excited and can't wait to get started. A little nervous, first major project for me. Still have a lot to learn, especially the electric part of this project.

Again, Hello!!!

Welcome Ronnie from a former Waynesboro resident. You should be able to find a lot of help and information.

Hello Ronnie,
I'm new on here myself. It sounds like we have a lot in common. I live in Harrisonburg, just bought an old pop up, tore it down to the frame, and I'm ready to start prepping the frame for my tear drop. I'm nervous about the electrical too, but more so about the axle placement and how to skin the outside. Good luck!

Roanoke here. My shop class and I built a tear based on nwtrailer plans. They were super cheap but a little quirky to follow. They worked for me but there are much better guides. I do ok with incomplete instructions and problem solving. The students creativity also helped me see around corners. There is a handbook people keep mention that appears to be a bible of sorts for builders. I am sure some one will mention it or I am sure a forum search for handbook would bring it up. I how you find as much joy in the build process as my students and I do/did.

When you get to electrical look into the PD4045 as it is pretty common and talked a lot about here. I got mine installed with only a few curse words.
