Hello from Santa Barbara. A newbie

Postby dkcaroline » Mon Aug 28, 2017 6:53 pm

Hi all

I a looking forward to building my own teardrop in the coming months. My son just got a ready to roll teardrop

I grew up with my mom talking about her travels when she came to the USA after WW2. She always got excited when seeing one. She passed a few months ago.

I picked up my maybe teardrop trailer. It is used, 4x8 and most recently as an inflatable boat trailer. The price was right, the frame heavy duty and tires that will allow it to go off road. But it has also been dipped in the pacific more than once so I have some sanding to do. I will probably drive you all nuts with questions. Safety and reliability are issues for me; I loved my 65 Westie VW Bus but Boy could she pick bad places to break down.

Thank you for the add!

Sorry about your mom!

As you better know what you want to build start in Build Journal.

have you got any idea what design you are going for.

Check your trailer closely I used a boat trailer on my first teardrop "Boxkite" and had to do some grinding and repainting I got new bearings too. Most boat trailers are run back into the water to release the boat. If lake water it should be ok but salt water will rust in time.

Welcome aboard.
