Looking forward to your rebuild.

The TD I just got was listed on Phoenix Craigslist, but it was actually in Payson. Pretty country, but I'm a desert rat.

It's an off-road TD, with 30x10.50 AT tires on Jeep pattern rims.

D.V. has many wonders, but so does AZ. I just got into Jeeps about 3 years ago, so I have a lot of landscape to catch up on. My 4x4 GMC Sierra was limited on where I could go. Too many narrow trails and canyons left unexplored.

I'm less than an hour from Death Valley! :D

Bob

Payson is nice, we can get up there in around 2 hours. 20 degrees cooler there than the valley. We just got our JKUR about 3 years ago too. Well do AZ for weekend trips and NV, UT, CA, CO for longer trips. When I was living in IL I always went to the mountains. Now that we are in the desert we love it. We have seen a lot of AZ since we have been here but so much more to see. The teardrop will get a lot of use.

Post up some pictures of you tear. Always looking for ideas.

We'll just have to see . . . ! ;)

When we lived in Ridgecrest, anyone traveling to Bishop would let the others know, and take orders for Schat's bread.

Once we moved to Pahrump, it was less often for someone to travel that way, but we still put out the word!

We've often returned with a couple dozen extra loaves for friends back home.

Thanks.

Mine came with a shape, but I am replacing the top. The P.O. used interior vinyl wall paneling - the kind with a fibrous inner fill, for the exterior roof.

First rain, the roof soaked up the water and swelled. In some places over an inch thick! :frightened:

I'm making sure the wood is completely dry, and I am using cheapo 1/8" ply, stained and well sealed, to re-skin it and for the roof.

Just signed the PO to have it built on Monday, waiting for factory to give us a date, packing, packing, packing - AmVet donation pile seems bigger than what we are taking with us.

As a IT/Security pro and former sysop, I understand the need for the law, I also know it isn't going to work as intended. It does eliminate the "I didn't know my service was being used for..." excuse, but that is for prosecuting the big fish not a small site like this. The kneejerk reaction is hilarious and no more than a white wash - no more Craigslist personals in the US except their Mexico and Canadian sites still have plenty of escort ads. They closed Backpages which was a good thing as they knew what they were doing. Some other results have been less successful, some 'Chan revenge porn' sites went down but mirror sites were up in less than a week. Bottom line is the sickos will find a way and the rest of us are inconvenienced though no fault of our own.

I have heard from several IT associates that some corporations have started extensive internal audits. Since I have discovered several internal groups and had to testify in court as to how I found questionable material, I've somehow become an expert on the issue. Still not enough 'mind bleach' to remove some images I've had the displeasure to view.

Hi, kids.

Nearing the end of the journey! Hopefully a week or two 'till it's ready and roadworthy. New skin and trim, leaf springs and hardware, battery, interior lighting and a roof vent/fan combo, tires, repaint the rims . . . phew, the fun never stops! (I found too much wrong to list, but I'm surprised anyone survived the wreck! Hahaha.)

I wasted probably three weeks trying to work with the P.O.'s dimensions until I figured it was easier to just build it out a little bigger and relatively on square. But I'm also getting lots of experience if I ever do a real build. I initially planned for a quick fix, but once I opened the 'can o' worms' things got out of hand. :D

I'm taking pics along the way, and will post a build thread when I get time and it's finally done!
