New guy (again)

Postby Karebru » Sun Apr 01, 2018 12:21 pm

I joined several years and posted a little. Lots of nice folks here. I see my login still works.
At the time, I was dreaming about a teardrop camper. I still think they're awesome but...
As the wife and I get older and creakier, something with stand up room is in order.
It's gotta be a DIY, and not a cookie-cutter production job. So I'm researching 7x12-ish cargo trailers.

Back when the bubble burst, we sold a boat that had weekending capabilities.
A couple years later I put together a small skiff to get us back on the water.
As I mentioned, the older, creakier thing happened.
Our older, creakier beagle who used to be a real sailor hated her one and only ride, and the boat hardly ever gets used.
In a moment of frustration, I said to the wife, "The boat just sits there! We should sell it and build a camper and do some traveling."
Surprisingly, she agreed.
I guess campfires sound better than cold and wet to both of us these days.

Never pass up the opportunity when your wife is on board with one of your crazy schemes!

Anybody familiar with USA Cargo Trailers, in Douglas, GA? It looks like they offer a lot of custom work.
I'd make the 400 mile drive from SW Florida to see them before I purchased.

Wanna buy a boat? ;)
I'm not going outside until the temperature is above my age.

Karebu Try this link http://www.weeroll.com/. I stumbled onto this site a few weeks ago and am tempted to give tdhem a try all the hard work is done and all the buyer need to is the interior to taste. They appear to be very well built. Keep us posted with progress please. Lee and Norma

Thanks, Lee. Those look great, but a little outside of my budget.
Hopefully, this thing will materialize and I'll be posting on the appropriate forum.
New, bare bones trailer... 8) There's just something about a blank canvas.
