Howdy from Seattle

Postby CodigoRojo » Tue Feb 02, 2021 11:41 am

Hi. I posted my new TTT plans in the General forum. Here's me in a nutshell:
Real name Rick. Married, one child (11 yo boy), research scientist at UW in Seattle. Study numerical weather prediction and regional climate change. Former auto mechanic. Love building stuff. Love being outside. Have a boat, spend lots of time salmon fishing and digging razor clams. Former full-size travel trailer owner. Soccer and baseball coach. Former snowboard instructor.

Current tow vehicle:
2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab 4x4, 5.3l, tow package, canopy shell. I love my pickup! It's the best car I've every had and I've had over 50!

Current criteria for tiny travel trailer:
Must fit in slip stream of my tow vehicle
Must fit in my garage with room to spare - my home office is out here!
Must be spacious enough for my wife to hang out and knit in with our tiny Italian Greyhound while the kid and I are out exploring
Off-grid boondocking is minimal. Almost all our camping is in state and national parks.
Off-road capabilities NOT required. Gravel roads occasionally but never far from pavement.
Weight not a huge concern, but obviously everyone wants better fuel economy.

Welcome - I live about 60-70 miles, 'kind of' NW of you - in the 'tail end' of the 'Squirm Rain Shadow' about 2 miles from the Doppler Weather balloon here on the west side of Camano Island. (am about 1/2 mile north of the 2 state parks here, looking west at Whidbey cross the water) Are you planning on building your own or buying something?? Suggestion if deciding to build: Amazon book "Building A Teardrop Trailer" by Tony H. Latham (under $20) great reference guide!! Take care T.Hoefer ....................

Welcome Rick! I hope your build project goes much quicker than mine with fewer major interruptions. Both our kids went to UW and a UW professor/researcher lives across the street. I'm a little north of you, just slightly north of the Seattle city limits.
