Checking in from Michigan

Postby walleyeslayer2 » Sun Jul 30, 2023 10:54 am

Hello, everyone!
I saw a very unique foam teardrop camper at the Redbud Outdoor National motocross race over the 4th of July and I got to talking to the guy and he suggested this place and some other sites to get some ideas. He was from Arizona is all I know about the guy.
I’m a woodworker/carpenter by trade so I was researching making one out of wood, but now I’m open to all ideas after seeing how nice it was.

Welcome! LP or UP? I'm in the Iron Mtn area.

Woodworking is in my blood too. My first TD was a Woodie and it's still going strong. My son and I built our first Foamie a couple years ago. Never weighed it but I bet its easily under 900#.

I'm about halfway into a solo TD for myself. A 4x8 foamie with one door on the curb side and an egress window on the road side. I'm hoping for under 600# but we'll see. It's Galley will have a 35L fridge, a simple propane single burner stove, a minimum of dishes and utensils (enough to do dishes once/day) and a Bluetooth amp and stereo speakers. In the cabin will be a twin memory foam mattress, ventilation fans (4), two more speakers, USBs for charging electronics, a footboard cabinet and sideboard cabinet and a reading and a ceiling light.

I entertain my woodworking desires with cabinets, custom built in speaker enclosures, switch and light bases and kitchen trays/storage. I've found that the basic structure goes together fairly quickly, getting you to the woodworking bits faster!
