new build / questions

Postby max6220 » Wed Jul 30, 2014 1:13 pm

Getting ready to build 7x16 lark trailer, I am ordering it with insulation,7' high, two 32x22 windows, one 24x15 window and RV door, 4 jacks one each corner, 50 gallon grey tank with waste valve installed, braced and wired for roof ac unit 14' awning. My question is the power package I was thinking of the 30 amp package. they offer a 30 and 60 amp package.
My finished trailer will have 13500 roof AC, fridge, micro wave, total of five 110 outs, two 4' overhead lights. Most of the camp grounds we have stayed in have 30 amp hook ups. Thanks for your input.

max6220, Howdy;

I live in a 30' 5th wheel RV, Have an A/C similar to the one you say you will have, everything works
fine with the 30amp service. If you have a choice of power centers get the Progressive Dynamics
unit. From all the items I've read of folks experiences PD's work better and last longer than the WIFCO units.

couple of plumbing questions, right now I am having one 50 gallon grey tank installed, do you need two separate tanks (one for toilet one for shower/sink). Also do you need to vent the tank thru the roof or can I put a small vent in the top section of the side wall?

Thank Steve

tires, which is better bias ply or radial for a 7x16 enclosed. I can upgrade for $150.00 is this money well spent.

I've never worn out a set of trailer tires, as I always have to replace because of weather checking on the sides long before the tread is gone. As a result, I saved the money and stayed with Bias. However, if your trailer will see more road miles that will result in wearing tread before weather takes the tire out, go with Radial, as they last longer. You also get a steel belt, but I have not found that to be a factor in owning tongue pull trailers for 30 years.
