solar advice

Postby jwhite » Fri Aug 18, 2017 6:38 pm

I am wanting to buy a folding solar panel with a built in charger to use to charge my gold cart batteries and also the 2 golf cart house batteries for my trailer, I don't know about the size I need I thought about a 100 watt not sure should buy a 200 watt ?
one of the biggest reason I run a generator is to charge the golf cart other than to run a 8000 btu AC but in the season when I don't need the AC I wonder if the solar panels will work I may not have to run the generator ?
one problem I see is I would be using the golf cart during the day and would not be hooked up to the panels ?
I see that ezego has a panel to hook to the cart that's over 800.00 and would only charge the cart, so I thought the other would be cheaper and could do both ?
any suggestions would help

Your best bet may well to be make your own, two panels (what ever size and power output you want, hinge them together and buy a controller, it can be waterproof or mout one in a water proof housing.
