Ya know, as just a passive convective system you could do a considerable amount of work. Low and slow like good pit BBQ, where you are not trying to raise the total volume of air/mass in short, fast bursts of heat but a constant feed where the delta is a few degrees similar to the rate of loss, but the mass never varies might be possible. It could be controlled by a simple solenoid valve to stop convection/circulation at ambient high limit. Probably would be pretty effective anywhere south of Mason Dixon. May need supplemental at times to be 72f but would keep warmed up above freezing even when rv not in use.

This unit has an heat exchanger hookup on the back you can apparently hook up to the radiator hoses in a motor home to heat the water while driving. That gives me some ideas for a closed loop reverse heat exchanger to add heat to the CTC in the winter???  Maybe too much effort... Probably not enough surface area on the exchanger to be effective.. Anyone done that before??

Don - you may want to check out this thread: http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=62327.

You are welcome. Glad I could be of help. Sorry to hear about your new inverter. That is odd that it failed right off like that. Must have been bad out of the box. I guess that happens.

I took a risk and bought a cheaper Chinese built 1500W Pure Sinewave inverter that I found out (after some research) also manufactures some of the more name brand units. I checked all the large electrolytic capacitors for the proper rating and size and brand (most often the primary cause of failure) and inspected all the solder and workmanship before I ever turned it on. So far so good. I typically don't push it more than 60% so it should last for a long time (I hope). To me the price was low enough to take the risk.

I am building an all band HF/VHF/UHF Amatuer Radio go box for my CTC so I can throw it onboard for boondocking trips to have local/regional/worldwide digital and voice capabilities. The heart of the GoBox is the ICOM IC-706MKIIG all band transceiver ( I picked it up used for a real good price) and a 25mm Cannon ammo box I found on eBay. I have another box just like the radio box which will house 75ah of rechargeable batteries and coaxial cables and various wire antennas and the fold up 40W Solar charger I bought a while back.

I am in the process of building an all band OCF Windom antenna that should tune up and be robust enough to hoist up in trees. We'll see. I may buy a Buddipole for quick setup needs and for when trees are not are not nearby.

The ammo boxes will attach to the eTrac to store when not used and for travel. It will be fun to make contacts in remote locations when I am not riding the dirt bike. Also, this will be good for emergencies when out of cell tower shot. I can reach out all over the country with this radio and HAMs are always monitoring and willing to relay in an emergency. After my last trip... this seemed like a priority as we engage in risky sports and are in very remote locations many times. In any case, I want this for when I go out west to BLM land solo next year. I can send e-mail via HF links and stay in touch.

I am also starting a 4 wheeler project soon. The 4wd 4 wheeler (Honda Recon) should fit with the dirt bike in the back. It is used and I am going to rebuild/refurb it (I am acquiring it for not much, but it needs some TLC). I need another project anyhow. :-) Tommy may be up for camping again in February and he will have to be on his 4 wheeler until his hand is rehabilitated fully. No dirtbike for quite a while..

Remember how much fun it was to go cut down your own tree?

In case you were wondering, I'd like one of these for Christmas.

Notice the Sheriff in the background. I see that guy everywhere.

Or anything from this store.

Thanks!
Merry Christmas!

flboy,

How did you affix your buss bars to your junction box? Did you use glue? If so, what kind of glue? If you already covered this matter elsewhere, sorry, I missed it. Below is your photo to which I am referring.

Thank you,
