What kid of screw is this?

Postby drcurran » Fri Jun 25, 2010 9:22 pm

Our cargo Trailer is a Danzier (the company is out of the business) and the screws used look like a Torx or Star, but they have 8 points on the "star". Any ideas? Thanks

Kind of sounds like the screws that I have on my CT. My CT is a Cargo Express brand. A square head screw driver works perfect on tightening or loosening them. :)

I'm not certain what they are called but I have some on my dead lawnmower (R.I.P.) that have 6 star points (3 top & 3 bottom) plus two slot points (sides) for a total of 8 points. That is so either a star driver or a flat head can be used to screw and unscrew them. Maybe that's what you have? (I can't show you a picture of them because they are black and small and wouldn't photograph well.)

I had found that a #2 square drive would work I was just wondering if their was a special drive / tool for this screw. I'm guessing now that the design is so that the #2 square drive can be used from various angles. Thanks again for all the help.

Here is what came on my trailer originally

I had a few that did not cooperate and the local trailer depot here in Indy only had these

If this is what you are talking about I can get you some just let me know. If you need them in a hurry I can mail them to you or I can bring them to the Michigan gathering.

Oh, the bit.

A square #2 fits perfect and thats what the trailer shop told me to use.
