It's time to raise the roof!

While I had it off notching out for the trim on the side panels I went ahead and moved my water break and thinned it down a little.ImageImage

And here's the notching I was speaking about, it's a little relief cut to allow the panels to fit tight against the stop.ImageImageImageImage

Flipped it over and got the rubber coating on, it looks a whole lot nicer now that it's painted!Image

Sorry for the lag in updates guys, I had a couple of health issues that put a kink in my work on the camper :(

Anyways, I was finally able to reinstall the roof after getting the rubber coating on and then moved on to another issue. In the pics you'll see that in my desire to make the roof as high as possible I ended up making the rear wall about 1/2" too long so you can't swing the roof up first (in the picture you can see I'm attempting to round off the top edge for some clearance). Now it's not really a big deal because you can swing the rear wall up and then the roof but it just bothers me that I can't also do it the other way round alsoImageImageImage

Hey wyldesyde,
You are really putting in the time and effort to get this right. I really appreciate that and wanted to let you know that I absolutely intend to copy this design at some point next spring. Looking forward to seeing some pics from the campsite. Keep up the good work and Thanks again.

Thanks guys :)

Soon as I get done tweaking the design I'm going to post my layouts and cut sheets for people to copy if they have a similar setup to give y'all a head start

I am just about in the home stretch, this weekend I plan to be finishing up the removable side walls (I couldn't do much of anything with the roof occupying my workshop).

I second what McDave said! Can’t wait to see the cut sheets so I can “get my head around” your design.

Here's a quick post of my solution for setting up the room solo. This temporary brace is quick to attach one handed with the squeeze clamp, it holds the rear wall up while you swing the roof out and into place.

I decided to use my leftover aluminum strips on the inside of the side panels. Originally I was going to use threaded knobs to screw the panels together to get them to close up but after looking at them installed I figured this was the better route, you'll notice the inside strip doesn't have near the overhang as the outer one. This offset allows you to press the panel against the outer strip and use it like a guide as you slide the panel into place.

You can see here with the additional strip added on the inside I end up with a much improved fit on the joints.ImageImage

I opted for slide bolts to lock the panels in place, each panel has one bolt which placed near the joint locks the latter panel as well.

This is where I quit for the day yesterday.

This piece is the final side piece which completes the connection to the rear of the trailer, also shown in the photos is the transition piece for the floor which covers up the gate hinge area and as it turns out will also lock this final side piece in place when it's dropped in.ImageImageImageImage

Hey guys sorry for the delay for those of you who were waiting on the uploads

The wife and I had some surgeries right at the end of the year and between me being laid up and having to take time off to care for her, a lot didn't get done on the camper :(

But I'm back on it!

In the meantime as promised I'm going to start the uploads for my design! :P

Now for the disclaimer... The information, measurements, drawings and pictures are being provided AS IS. It is your responsibility to do your due diligence to make sure it is applicable to your desired use.

Now prepare yourself for the flood! :eyebrows:
