I read this one as 1gal/100ft doublecoat...
http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfIma ... f0ede9.pdf

This is also cheaper than I paid...

Now I'm confused too. but the first link seemed clear, 2gal, 100ft

I have been slowly working on my trailer, but work has been extra busy, which is both good and bad. I picked up some Henry's 587 and my fantastic fan should be here in a couple of days. First layer of insulation is in the ceiling, 3/4 inch foil covered polyiso. Next layer will be 1/2 pink. I'm taking pictures but still can't get them to upload into my gallery. Obviously operator error!! I will have to set aside a block of time to figure it out.

I am taking pictures with my android cell phone set to the lowest resolution. 6MP is the lowest it goes. Not sure if this is the problem?

I have a question about using roof coating on a new roof along with a roof fan install. I am changing the non powered vent to a fantastic fan. After removing the old vent the cleaning the area.

1. Install new butyl tape directly to aluminum roof, set new fan, fasten with new screws.

2. Install eternabond tape over the screws .

3. Install Henry's 587 over entire roof and the eternabond tape.

I did get some self leveling lap sealant although I'm not sure if I need it?

Ray at
http://www.loveyourrv.com/resealing-rv- ... bond-tape/

applied lap seal around the edges of the eternal bond tape to prevent pealing.

I would use the lap seal.

I just installed my fan, redid the roof. I had not seen the tape before but am comfortable with the butyl tape, self leveling sealant and then Henrys 587. When I rolled on the Henrys, it flowed into every crack, crevice, pin hole. Almost as if it is a one peice roof sheathing. I had installed it simply for the reflective qualities but gained so much more.

Not familiar with the eternabond, sealed the AC and black tank vent with butyl, dicor lap sealant, then Henry. If you have a new galvanized roof, clean it, then etch it with vinegar/water solution before Henry. Check the lable for coverage, I've seen different instructions.

Seems to me that probs folks have with the aforementioned products is a lack of figuring areas et al.
a roof 7x12 equals 72 square feet. if one coat paint covers 100square feet, let 1st coat dry then use balance of paint for a 2nd coat
I find roof paints are way diff in thickness than interior paints. One gallon of a good grade at HD cost about 24$. I applied generously
decided I didn't need a 2nd coat.Thru a summer season of semi monsoons in So Fl. NO LEAKS. and welll satisfied with HD,the return policy is very generous
To be fair I don't believe HD should return purchase price on a 3/4 used gallon of paint

Padilen,

7x12 does not always equal 84, nor does 25/5 always equal 5; rather, 25/5 sometimes equals 14.

I was able to get the long weekend off!!!!! My Saturday plan was to install a fantastic fan and apply Henry's 587 to the roof. I climbed up there Saturday morning and the roof was filthy!!!! After 2 complete soap and water scrub downs it was clean and shiny again, I then removed factory vent and replaced with new fantastic fan. I then washed roof again with a white vinegar and water solution and masked off the roof edges. I took longer than I thought!

Today Sunday morning I applied the first coat of Henry's lengthwise. 6 x 12 plus V nose took about a half gallon. Waiting for it to dry now. I would like to do 2 more coats. One crosswise and another lengthwise. I have been taking pictures and will eventually figure out how to resize them to load into my gallery!!!!!!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and best wishes to everyone on the gulf coast area!!!!

[quote="low277"] 6 x 12 plus V nose took about a half gallon.

Great progress!

I am getting ready soon to paint my roof with Henry’s 587. I would have guessed that you would have used more than 1/2 gallon of paint based upon a coverage rate of one gallon per 100 sq ft. The specs recommend a deep pile roller. I bought a 3/4 inch deep pile roller.

How are you applying the paint and do you think you could apply it any thicker?

Your feedback will help me figure out the best way to paint my roof.

Thanks!

@ featherlite,
I used the 587 on 6x12 flat nose and 1 gal covered well 2 coats. I used a deep roller. Made a huge difference on roof temp and ability to cool cabin. 2 years still looks good.

Thanks McDave,

Your 6x12 roof = 72 sq ft x 2 coats= 144 sq ft. from one gallon of paint. Evidently, the Henry's specs of 100 sq ft per gallon are skewed to induce the purchase of about 44% more product than what is needed.
