It's very similar to what is used with Jeep soft tops. Usually an extruded aluminum c-channel is mounted to the body while a mating extruded plastic strip is sewn to the fabric. I cannot find exact pictures off-hand, but something like in this link below:

Sorry, just to clarify it's not these clips that I am referencing, but the shape is similar to what I am talking about. You would buy this stuff in lengths, say 10' or so and the tolerances would be a lot tighter to create a nice tight connection when under tension.

I hope this helps.

rebar, Howdy;

Seeing that the "R" pod uses a Dometic awning I went to Dometic's site and found this;
https://www.dometic.com/en-us/us/produc ... -and-tents

Standard disclaimer, not got a dog in this scrap, just passin' along a suggestion.
I've had some good results from contacting places like them for information, who
knows, they may even sell the track you are looking for. You might also ask at
an RV repair shop if there is one near you.

I attached flexible Keder rail to my TD and made an awning. The plastic rail can be bent using a heat gun. All of the Keder products are available from Sailrite.

Thanks rkanz.. What made you decide to use the plastic rail in your link instead of the aluminum rail in the picture?

I'm hoping I can form the rail over the last inch of round roof of this trailer and down the walls to make a sealed bug proof room. I figured going over the roof vs trying to bend the rail the "long way" to attach it to the back wall would be easier, but I'm not sure how tight a radius the awning rope can fit through.. The trailer roof looks like it has maybe a 6" radius transitioning from the walls to the roof and then back down again.

the napier backroadz suv tent arrived in the mail today, it sets up pretty easy and i found that the umbilical/tube just fits perfectly around the back of my ctc. if my 5x8 was even an inch bigger in any direction it would not have fit at all. So far i like it and will post up pics shortly. i do notice that rain may build up over the umbilical as i don't have a rear hatch door to hold it up.

The plastic rail attached in the best way to my trailer. The plastic is attached with screws through the center and has a narrower width than the aluminum. Plus I was able to bend it slightly to match the curves of the roof. You just need to pick the best rail for your application. Sailrite has a video that shows how to bend the plastic rail.Image
