I got the shower pan dry fitted tonight, it's 3 layers of fiber glass for a grand total of 1/8" thick. I laid a couple of the raised floors tiles in to see what they'll look like

Today's project is getting the through-wall fan installed for the bathroom, you may remember from an earlier post that I was trying not to put any more penetrations in the roof than I had to. It took me a while to find a fan I felt would get the job done.

This fan is a bit bigger than I was hoping to find but in the end I believe it'll be better because it moves a whole lot of air :D

You can see here I'm doing a little exploration cuts to find a good place to cut.

Well it never fails...

Here's one of those things you can run into when purchasing a prefabbed trailer, you don't know where they ran all the wiring!!

I got the wire moved without too much fuss and finished the exterior cut.

When I bought this fan the description stated that it did both exhaust and intake and I wondered how that was possible considering the louvers. Turns out after I received it I found out that when you pull the switch cord it mechanically opens the louvers

Here's a link to a video of it working https://youtu.be/C1OOearOGSU

The fan you purchased didn't come with an exterior trim ring? Just print one!

That's the beauty of owning a 3d printer 8)

I am enjoying reading and viewing your build. Could you possibly provide a link or info on where to purchase- on the through wall fan?
Thank you

And here's the link for the trim ring files if anyone ends up purchasing this fan.

Vent fan exterior trim ring found on #Thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3725739

Tonight I've been finishing up the "padding" on the shower walls to flush them up with the edge of the shower pan, this will let the FRP lay relatively flat as I extend it down into the pan.ImageImageImage

Here's a tip that may have been shown already.

Use metalized duct tape as flashing behind your corner joints! It's wider than the standard corner trim used with FRP and you can extend it down into the pan for effective drainage 8)

I started by folding the tape in half
Image

then peeling back a small section of the backing on one half I pressed it into the corner slowly working my way down
Image
Image

I'd peel another small section until one side was completely stuck.
Image

Image

The remaining side I just peeled the entire length and carefully pressed it into place.

wyldesyde007, Howdy;

Been following this forum for several years now and feel fairly sure that
this is the first time anyone has taken the time to show & tell that tip.
Handy as all get-out.
