I've not had a problem pulling my 6x12 with the Explorer. I've not gone up into the mountains yet. I am some wondering about how that will act out. It has the 4.0 6cyl, 4 wheel drive 5speed.

I thought some here might like this idea:

I got the idea from another camper who got it from another camper :)
you hang it from a rope in a tree to provide light for your campsite. It stays dry. It's a soft light. and it works great. I used an energy efficient 20w which states it's equal to a 75W.so it's pretty bright.
enjoy.

On our vacation there was a camper that had something very simular to this. I really liked the soft glow it gave their camp site from being hung high in a tree. It was not offensively bright that it disturbed us either if we chose to turn our lights off. Another advantage to that if it attracts any bugs, they will be up high also. I guess they were using it as a security light for their site too, they left it on 24/7.

ok. I have had a new project planned and worked on. I'm not done yet but here's a few images.

Image
Spent the last couple days working on this Shelf in the camper for holding what usually ends up on the floor, the clothes bags and the kitchen box.
Room for two or three bags. Notice I put good use of an old cattle panel to secure the bags and box on the shelf. LOL. I used two 12" closet/shelf brackets( that's what I had on hand) and 4 pieces of 1x4 I had left on a project in the shed/bar, an old cattle panel with the 6x6 from the top area cut to size. the two lights I got on Ebay pivoting, 12v with switches.

Image
This shows those added lights for night time reading, internet and etc.

Image
Cattle panel down for loading the bags. neat Idea I think.

all I have to do now is wait.... as soon as it's warm or I heat up the trailer, I'm going to redo my paint. that color and texture is bothering me bad. :NC

I think what happened was the pictures I had uploaded to the TTT gallery got deleted on an upgrade.
Since I have all of them on my a FB album I have not re-uploaded them again.
But I do have the link in my signature to that album.

Wolfscout, Howdy;

Thanks, I still need to develope the habit of checking the
albums in the signatures. A nice feature on this site that
one dosen't stumble across on most other sites...

I've been absent for a bit... had a lot to get done but nothing on the camper really.

I am fixing to start a project. I want to mount the spare tire and the bicycle rack to the front tongue of my camper.
My CTC sits a bit low and I don't want to risk adult sized bikes on the rear of it when I go down bumpy dirt roads. Plus All the local welders are telling me around $325 to build me a rear 2" hitch for bike racks or a cargo rack.
So I'm hunting the junkyards for a 2" hitch that I can cut off at 34" and weld to my tongue.
The bike rack I have is a Swagman 4 bike with tow bar.
I've laid a 34" 2x4 across the frame to make sure my idea will work out. It does.
Now I just need to find me a used square tube hitch that gives me the 34" and weld it up.

I'm also wanting to mount a spare tired to the front of the camper behind the bike rack but infront of the siding.
Not sure how I'm going to do that yet.
I've got an idea to find me a long axle Ubolt and just drill it to fit through the center front stud on the inside and bolt it in place with tire resting on my future hitch. we'll see.

I'll get some pics up when I get further along with it.

Looks like it worked out fine. What is the purpose of the hitch ball at the front end of the bike rack drawbar?
