AM/FM stereo antenna reccomendation please

Postby The Blue Max » Sun Sep 07, 2008 9:07 pm

My Beast should be here in a few weeks from the factory ready to be outfitted, trimmed out and customized. The new Sony iPOD ready CD player, Amp and speakers are all ready but I am looking for a reccomendation on a AM/FM antenna. My preference is roof mount vs. window mount.

Any suggestions?

Thanks and photo's coming SOON. :applause:

I used one like this:

I mounted it inside the galley between the bulkhead and the hinge on the inside of the roof. It seems to work fine. I purchased it at an auto parts store for around $20.

I don't have a specific recommendation, but maybe I can add a consideration...

If at any point in the future you would like to add a television, it might be good to have an antenna which is also suitable for TV. That's easy for the exisiting VHF TV channels (2 through 13), since the FM radio frequencies are in the middle of them, so the same antennas work. The UHF TV channels (14 and up) are where the digital stations are going (along with existing UHF analog stations). Since all U.S. analog stations are shutting down next year (and Canadian analog stations a couple years later), to be useful a TV antenna will need to work in the UHF range - that's common for TV antennas, but an antenna intended for radio use might not be suitable.

I used the same one Jeremy used in both my teardrops. Completely hidden, no holes in the teardrop. :D Danny
