Second window installed. John offset it from the other one so it's directly across from the side door.

I primed and painted the "foot wall" yesterday and primed the nose shelves. It was pretty hot in there (no ceiling insulation) so I clicked on the AC, low, and was quite comfortable. Painting, for now, is over and the gear-loading begins. Only one more weekend to get everything prepped and packed.

John will build the second set of galley shelves this week, along with making sure our Big Lug is roadworthy. That shouldn't take long for my ol' trucker.

Awww, Auntie M... Your response means more to me than I can say. Thanks for watching the build. We're very excited to have done what we did and look forward to camping IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!

We weren't looking for perfect, y'know. Taking what you have and making it better was tantamount - that, and keeping my butt off the ground and out of a tent. HA! Besides, this get's John camping with me. Gotta love retirement!

There will be finalized pics and travel pics posted, too. Looks like our trip will include John and I, Rusty (18 years old) and his pup Chuie (who hates to camp). We don't have a menu, but we know Camp Food is the bomb-diggidy! I can't wait to use the Dutch Oven again.

8) Taking an 18 year old is a good idea. Ya just gotta teach him to cook while you lay around and enjoy :lol: 8) I am working on the grandkids. ;)

Getting the other half to go along was my goal too. Makes is so much nicer. :thumbsup:

We're going to use a cargo net on the nose shelves for the time being.

No more working on it until after vacation, when there will be more ideas. I'm sure everyone knows how we're feeling to be taking a "maiden voyage." I'll just describe it as GIDDY.

We haven't got a firm plan for this vacation, but we'll probably do side trips to Dakotah Winery and Bronson Motor Speedway which are both near Manatee Springs State Park.

Seriously, the thing's been parked since we came back from our trip to the Florida panhandle in April.

I don't imagine we'll do much to it until the weather cools down, although it would be nice to get some ceiling insulation in there.

It's 92 degrees with humidity under 14% here in southern Oregon today, but last weekend at our campout it was so cold during the day that I had to put on long pants, a winter coat and a stocking cap!

We just kept the campfire going day and night and had lots of great conversations.

I am so jealous!

100% humidity, daily thunderstorms, 97* with a heat index of 105* and upper 70's at night doesn't make for the most comfortable campouts, even with that roof-top a/c.

Last July we camped at Shelter Cove in Humboldt County and it was BEEEUTIFUL weather (if a bit windy). One of the best trips we've ever taken.

Yeah, out here on "the left coast" (San Diego to Seattle) the coastal weather is usually gray, drizzly off and on all summer, especially June ("June Gloom"). Mark Twain said that the coldest winter he ever spent was the summer he spent in San Francisco. We're all hoping that when global warming gets really bad that the weather here will get really pleasant.

We have a little modification... Still need to tweak them, but you get the general idea.
