Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

6 x 12 Pace American Conversion

Postby kstephenson » Tue Apr 20, 2010 6:32 am

Hello everyone. I m new here. A few months ago I started to research this site and found it to be a great source of information. I have since started my own conversion on my Pace American 6 x 12. I bought this trailer 2 years ago to move from Arizona back home to Georgia. I tried to sell it a few times but you know how that goes......no one wants to pay what its worth so I just parked it under the carport. After alot of research on this site I decided to do my conversion. I have been working on it about a month now. I m mainly looking to have a comfortable trailer for camping and to also bring along when we go boating. I ve removed the interior walls and installed 3/4 " sheet insulation on the walls and ceiling. I ve also build a interior wall at the rear of the trailer bout a foot inside of the doors. Here I ve installed a 24 x 24 window from Lowes and a 5000 BTU air conditioner. Alot of this happening on this little trailer.....I love it. I m not a great carpenter but I try really hard...Haha I will post more pics when I can get them where they will go on my album. Thanks for all the help .... I am really enjoying this conversion

Kevin,
welcome to the forum. There are a lot of different ideas for these conversions. Sharing helps others plan their design and helps with construction methods or details.

Thanks for posting your conversion and sharing it with us.

Looks good. You probably could have ripped those 2x4s in half to help save some weight. At any rate it should be very solid as its built.

Hi, I have just purchased a 5x8 ct,,and like your idea of the rear wall,I was just wondering what you do to protect the wood on the doors and wall when its storming and windy??

Kevin nice looking job on your conversion.

looks like a good "fishing shanty", "vacation cabin", or maybe even a "dog house" if ever one is needed.
