Roof Insulation....Why Not........

Anything wrong with doing the roof inside a curved trailer top just like the headliner in cars and trucks??

Lonerider,

Are you referring to using headliner type cloth material once your roof is insulated? I suspect it would work but I think Luan paneling, or something similar, might be less expensive, more durable, and easier to work overhead with (see my insulation installation below).

Steve woverton who built the Puffin did a second puffin standie. For the headliner, he took rigid foam insulation and wrapped on side with vinyl fabric, then velco-ed the panel to the ceiling.

Yea, but you have the curved areas not covered....that's where I was talking about. That area isn't insulated at all!!

I'm not sure I understand the question, but on my TD, I have an outer roof skin and no inner skin -- just exposed ribs. My plan is to get some quilted material to use like a headliner, mostly for noise abatement.

I really don't need weather insulation where I camp, and I wanted to keep weight to a bare minimum, so no hard inside skin.

Hope that helps.
